TV Size And Room Size
Distance Plays An Important Role In TV Selection!

TV Size and Room Size are very important when it comes to viewing pleasure. So when a room where you want to add a TV has limited space you may want to think twice before going with the largest TV available.

The reason being that you may end up being too close to your TV for comfort and that could cause all sorts of eye problems in the long run. Also if your TV is too big for your game room you may end up bumping it with pool sticks and all that money you spent for it will be down the drain if it gets broken.

So What Is A Good Distance To Be From Your TV?

You'll find various information on the internet that talks about TV Size and Room Size viewing distances that can be confusing so we'll give you a general guideline that should help you out. To start with there are always minimum and maximum viewing distances. These have to do with optimal viewing pleasure. Of course you can see a TV further away or close up so take these distances with a grain of salt and apply them to your own TV viewing situation. Being that your TV may be in your home game room you'll always have some people closer while others are further away. And remember screen size is a diagonal measurement from the upper right corner to the bottom left corner of the actual screen and vise versa.

General Viewing Distances

  • 26" – 30" TV - 3 feet minimum to a 7.5 feet maximum viewing distance.
  • 34" – 42" TV - 4 feet minimum to a 10.5 feet maximum viewing distance.
  • 46" – 56" TV - 5.6 feet minimum to a 13 feet maximum viewing distance.
  • 60" – 72" TV - 7.5 feet minimum to a 17 feet maximum viewing distance.
  • As I said these are general guidelines. Depending on your personal circumstance you may need to view the TV closer or further away. In a home game room use caution if getting a very large screen TV unless you absolutely have enough space. You don't want kids standing too close for too long, that's why one of the best TVs for a home game room is a ceiling mounted or wall mounted TV.
