Harry Potter Theme Room

by Catherine
(Devon, United Kingdom)

: Great site! Full of delightful ideas! I would like to share our game room for one of your themes. How about a Harry Potter theme room for all those Harry Potter fans out there!!

I am from England and we don't really have basements but we do have a room which we dedicate solely to relaxation and fun for the children. My children are really into Harry Potter - all the rage right now - so we decorated our game room using this theme. Plus its great for Halloween!

We use lights that resemble candles as sconces on the walls and a big dim chandeliar in the room. Great awry presence!

We have a snooker table with a blue cover and our cue sticks are decorated with moon and stars to resemble large wands.

We have one of those glass orbs with electric current in them that react when you touch it. We pretend that this is our secret power ball providing us strength to beat our opponents at snooker!

We also found one of those heads that talk and make spooky noises inside a glass ball. Great to scare our friends with! We place this near the door so that movement into the room triggers it!

Our foosball table is really cool! The children dressed the players in felt costumes that they made themselves. Really simple - just slipped them over the players so that they resemble Gryffindors and Slytherins.

We also have one of those machines where you insert money and a plastic ball shaped container drops out. We have painted these balls gold with wings to resemble a snitch. Inside these balls we would fill them with mini-toys, a fortune or sweets. This is a favourite during our parties and our children enjoy filling them with prizes and writing their own fortunes for their friends.

The ceiling is painted with lots of stars too! And we have red velvet curtains to complement the look. Plus we have placed mini gargoyles all around the room! As well as contributing to the ambiance these little statues serve as drink holders or places to place our food as my husband has attached little trays to their claws.

For company we serve our drinks from a large cauldron into delightful goblets.

These are just a few of our ideas that I wanted to share with you. Hope this will inspire Harry Potter fans or Halloween ideas!

Thanks for creating this site and providing lots of great ideas for us game room maniacs!
