Easy UpkeepSince this site is geared toward home game rooms it only makes sense to add a flooring that is easy to upkeep. Assuming that you'll have family get-togethers and parties in your fishing theme game room it's always safe to install a flooring that is easy to care for and won't have you screaming if someone drops a hotdog or spills a drink. With that in mind let's go over a few different types of flooring that would fit as your fishing theme room flooring and some neat ways to give it the look and feel you want.
Tiling
Tiling is one of our favorite types of flooring for game rooms. Because of the simple fact that you can really use your imagination to come up with an array of designs and looks that can fit into any room, especially a theme room. Also there is more than one type of tiling available to you. A few examples of tiling are ceramic tiling, cork tiling, vinyl tiling, resilient tiling, rubber tiling and a few others. You can find more information about these different types of tiles on our flooring page, you'll find the link on or navigation bar. The GREAT thing about tiling is that it can be made to look like a checker board and that is what game rooms are all about. For Fishing Theme Room Flooring you'd want to tile your room with two different shades of blue tiling or one blue and the other white. It'll give your room the "water" effect that adds to your fishing theme. This may sound like a minor detail, having blue/white checkered tiling in your room but it makes a big difference and adds to the overall atmosphere of the room.
Laminate Flooring
One of the easiest floorings to keep up is laminate flooring. This type of flooring would be great because it's resistant to scratches, burns, chipping, dents and more. Also with laminate flooring you can place it both on main floors and in basements. Also since you're looking for something to go with your fishing theme, there are many different colors to choose from. Whether you want a solid light blue look or something a little more snazzy with a design laminate may be what your home game room ordered. And it's easy to install.
Hardwood FlooringLet's be honest, we're talking about home game room theme flooring. If you have a home game room would you really want a hardwood floor? Probably not, but on the other hand they do look great and if your game room isn't in your basement then hardwood may not be such a bad thing. A hardwood floor as your fishing theme room flooring would look beautiful but it may be hard to match up. Unless you are going for a "Rustic Cabin" look and feel. That would be right up hardwoods alley. Now you'll want your guests to either wear slippers you make available or socks. With a lot of foot traffic around the pool table and other games it can get worn down. Also it's hard to eliminate scratches, especially deep scratches that may be caused by moving tables and games. But if your heart is set on hardwood then find a wood and stain that matches your look and feel. Some hardwood floors available come in oak, maple, cherry, hickory, pecan, pine, beech, walnut and others. Just don't forget that most hardwood floors cannot be installed in basements because of moisture and humidity. Ask a professional about this because there are a few different ways to get around those problems if you REALLY want a hardwood floor in your basement game room.
CarpetingFinally we get to carpeting. Again there are other flooring choices for your fishing theme room flooring and please check out our flooring page for more ideas. Carpeting is an alternative floor covering for all of the other choices above. There are just a few types that you DON'T DON'T DON'T want to add to a game room. Shaggy or long carpeting is a bad idea as well as carpeting that isn't stain resistant. One type of carpeting that does go great in game rooms is Berber carpeting. One of the reasons is that it's wound tight and very durable and lasts for a long time and always looks good. Carpet tiling is also an alternative. It's good because you can still get just about any color you want and if someone does ruin a section it's easy to get up and replace and relatively cheap too. You know some people prefer to do nothing to their basement game room flooring. They just leave the concrete. That is not such a bad idea because you can spice it up with some area rugs of your favorite fish or colors in various shapes.
Get ImaginativeThe point with fishing theme room flooring is to get imaginative. Create a one of a kind look without going overboard. Make it both unique and functional. And once again for more ideas on game room flooring have a look at our flooring page.
