Retro Arcade Games Equals Modern Fun!

Game Room Decor

Adding Classic Arcade Games to your home game room is always a cool idea. The classic video games from the 1970s and 1980s are still a hit today with kids of all ages because of their cool designs and simplicity.

From the classic Donkey Kong Arcade Game and Donkey Kong Jr. to Defender, Space Invaders and Asteroids to the more modern Simpsons Arcade Game and various sports and fighting games they do add hours of fun to your game room. You can have high score white boards and tournaments during get-togethers and more.

Also these days you can find an assortment of retro arcade games loaded into one game box. Adding many of the best classic arcade games to your room in one box is both economical and space saving. Or another fun idea is to add an Atari Video Game to the mix. Use a corner of the room for a small flat screen TV and then let the retro game fun begin.

And here is a sample of some of the best classic arcade games that you could put in your game room; Asteroids, Centipede, Duck Hunt, Excite bike, Missile Command, Moon Patrol, Frogger, OutZone, Pacman, Pong, Tetris, Spy Hunter, Rampage, Time Pilot, Track and Field, Space Invaders, Tron, Defender, Mortal Kombat and many more.

Short History of Classic Arcade Games

Arcade games continue to evolve year after year with bigger and better graphics. But the earliest arcade games included amusement park midway games such as ball toss games and the coin-operated machines such as fortune tellers, which by the way are really nice in home game rooms. And let’s not forget the crane games, I believe those are the perfect addition to a home game room.

Basic coin-operated pinball machines were made during the 1930’s. But the earliest known operated version of coin operated games were set up by students at Stanford University in 1971.

And probably the most famous video game ever, Atari was formed in 1972 by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. And basically Atari started the video game revolution. And 4 of the most popular games came about in the late 70s and early 80s like Space Invaders (1978), Galaxian (1979), Pac-Man (1980) and Donkey Kong (1981).
