Cheap Billiard Tables
Now There’s Cheap And Then There’s CHEAP!

OK you’re looking for Cheap Billiard Tables because you don’t want to spend a lot of money. Maybe you’re just a casual player or want a pool table for the family room for get-togethers, no matter the reason you want CHEAP, right!

Here’s the thing, cheap really has two meanings. Do you want a “Cheap Table” that comes new out of the box like one you’d find at your local department store? Or do you want a nice table for cheap. There is a BIG difference but this page will help you sort it out.

There are good and bad points to both types of tables and only you know deep down in your heart what you’re looking for. So it’s always important to find out as much as you can and to get varying opinions and ideas as to which one is best for your situation.

Cheap Billiard Tables
Are They Really That Cheap?

Yes pool tables that cost less than 500 dollars are cheap. They are cheap in two ways. First of all the cost because a nice table usually runs above the 1000 dollar mark. And the second way they’re cheap is the quality.

New out of the box tables that you’d find in a department store are not top quality brand tables. They claim to play great but most don’t. Yes they get the job done. You hit the balls into the pockets and then rack them up again but that’s about it. They don’t have slate, usually it’s an imitation slate or even a type of wood playing surface. The fabric isn’t felt but something totally different and the bumpers are either really bouncy or not bouncy enough.

Now none of that matters if it’s a table you’ll only use occasionally or if it’s for the kids, they’ll love it. So this is where you need to decide how and when it’ll be used. The price is great, the quality compared to top brands, not so good. Plus I’ve seen many people complain of broken parts and pieces going bad in a year or less. But if you still want cheap but good then read on.

Getting A Billiard Table
FOR CHEAP!

Now this is a totally different mindset. You love pool or want to play more but can’t afford a new table. You don’t want to buy a “cheap” 200 dollar table either. What do you do?

Well it’s simple, you buy used! Used is my one of my favorite four letter words. Used doesn’t mean broken or beat up, it just means it’s been used. Yes sometimes used tables can be really worn out so don’t buy that one unless you want to replace the slate, felt and cushions. Otherwise used is a good way to go.

You can get cheap billiard tables that are name brand and still play great. They’ll come with the slate and felt fabric playing field. They’ll have intact leg levelers and even the ball return may still work, not that you need one.

And no matter what the salesman says, a used top brand table is always better than a new cheapo table. Actually two of my brothers have bought used and both times got great tables at great prices.

The only thing to remember is that when you buy a used top brand billiard table from someone you’ll most likely have to take it apart and move it yourself and since it’s a nice table it’s going to be heavy. You’ll need a few people to take it apart and gently move it because you don’t want to ruin the slate or any part of the table for that matter.

Finding Cheapo
Cheap Billiard Tables

And finding cheap billiard tables is easy to do. Simply start at Ebay, the only problem there is that if you don’t live close enough to the seller to pick the table up then you’ll have to pay shipping and that may turn your cheap pool table into an expensive buy.

Another great place is Craigslist, you can search by your local area and are surely to find a few.

Finally don’t forget about billiard stores. Yes they sometimes have old models or damaged floor models that they’d love to dump for cheap. You could always give them your contact information for them to call when one is available also. Keep you options open but make sure you get the type of cheap you want.

Like A Used Car!

Just think of a used billiard table like a used car. It costs a heck of a lot more for a new car so why buy new when you can get a used car for cheap with 50,000 miles on it knowing that I’ll last another 100,000 miles. The same with a used pool table, it may have a lot of mileage on it but it’ll last a lot longer. Or go with the Yugo of billiard tables, it may get you there but will need a lot of maintenance along the way.
